• This is the future plan we have for our farm

    Current Stock Levels

At present, we have 11 sheep and 5 cows. The cows are not yet on the land due to the absence of a
barn to house them over the winter. Additionally, we have 5 beehives, which are expected to arrive
    imminently.

    Projected Stock Growth

    Sheep
All 11 sheep are pregnant, and our goal is to retain the lambs. Any male lambs will be sold and replaced with ewe lambs to expand the flock.
Once the flock reaches approximately 100 sheep, we anticipate beginning to generate a profit.
Based on current market values, we expect to sell sheep at £180–£210 per head, with an estimated annual sale of 50 sheep. If necessary, lambs will be housed in a borrowed barn.

    • Current potential profit: £3,600–£4,200
    • Projected profit (Year 3): £9,000–£10,500
    • Projected profit (Year 5): £18,000–£21,000

    Cattle
Managing the cows presents additional challenges, as a barn is required to house the calves. We are
currently working in collaboration with Hazel, a local cattle farmer, who will provide us with calves
in April at a cost of £300 per calf. These will be raised and sold in September, generating an
estimated profit of £700 per calf.
If we had a barn, we could increase profitability by overwintering the cattle and breeding them.

    • Current maximum profit (without a barn): £2,000
    • Projected profit (Year 3, with a barn): £7,000
    • Projected profit (Year 5, with a barn): £21,000

    Beekeeping
Each beehive is expected to produce 25–30 kg of honey annually. A honey extraction machine will
be installed in the barn to process honey and wax.

    • Estimated honey yield: 100 bottles per hive
    • Retail price: £10 per 250g bottle
    • Maximum potential revenue: £5,000 (before costs)
    • This has no limit to expansion

    On-Site Machinery

    • Flail mower and tractor (for grass maintenance)
    • Sheep feed and hay (for winter storage)

    Additional Farming Activities

    • Wild Camping Site
    • Plans are in place to develop a small campsite. This does not require a barn, as toilet facilities are
    • pre-arranged with Lakes Loos, and guests bring their own tents.
    • Tree Planting & Sales
    • We are actively planting trees with the goal of maturing and selling 50% of them. Currently, 50 trees have been planted, and once 25 are sold (after replanting), we expect to generate a profit of £600.
